While most acai products that one finds are supplements prepared from the pulp of the fresh fruit; there are a couple of fairly popular lines of juices available. One is Sambazon and another is called Zola Acai which we will look at now.
Pulling back back the tab at the top of the tetrapack package of the drink; one has to be careful not to get splashed with a little purple dollop of juice. Do it slowly and you'll avoid it. Once inside you can see that their version of acai juice is a more little fluid than Sambazon and a bit more of a pure purple. However, there's other differences....Zola acai juice is not filtered, so its more grainy than Sambazon Rio Energy. It is almost like the thickness of low-fat milk. The taste is rich, with aromas of cocoa and cinnamon. The juice has a nice flavor with the taste of the classic acai berry, and vanilla. It is a little more tart than Sambazon; but still pretty mellow. It's hard to decide which is better tasting, this brand or Sambazon; but it is still very tasty and definitely better than all those fake acai drinks one can find out there.
The ingredients of this juice are very similar to Sambazon's...quite simple and natural. Inside each package, you find acai pulp, evaporated sugarcane juice, organically grown guarana, caffeine, soy lecithin, and citric acid. You get a small rush from the beverage and it perks you up a bit. Sambazon juices have yerba mate which gives an additional boost. But it is still good and definitely one of the healthier juices out there that come with a bit of a energy kick.
As far as nutrional composition goes, the juice has around 170 calories, two grams of fat, two grams of protein, a gram of fiber and under thirty grams of sugar. The fats consist primarily of Omega six and Omega-9 fats which also have nutritional benefits.
